Marcos Guedes de Oliveira  is Associate Professor at Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, working at the Department of Political Science and as Head of Nucleo de Estudos Americanos. He is CNPq researcher and has written on regional integration, security and democracy as well as on Brazilian foreign policy. He holds a PhD in Government from Essex University, was Chair Simon Bolivar Sorbonne Paris III and has directed the Center for Brazilian Studies at Middlesex University. He is an active member of ISA, IPSA, BRASA, ABCP, ABRI and other academic associations in Brazil and abroad.
