Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum 2011
From 20 to 22 June 2011 in Bonn (Germany) will be held the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum. The 2011 theme is Human rights and globalization - challenges to the media.
In a globalization process that offers opportunities and dangers, the media has a stategic role to explain and create transparency and public awareness in order to guarantee more universal observance of human rights.
From this assumption the conference will focus on four topics:
. How can the media better meet the increased demands to deliver information, analysis and evaluation of global interaction?
. How can the media help to sustainably sharpen awareness of the universal validity of human rights?
. How can the media promote respect for and assertion of these rights, especially in closed societies?
. How can journalists protect themselves from becoming victims of human rights violations?
