The 2011 World Economic Forum on Africa

On 4-6 May 2011, in Cape Town (South Africa), will be held the World Economic Forum on Africa, whose's theme will be From Vision to Action, Africa’s Next Chapter.

The meeting aims to focus on three key issues:

1. Shaping Africa’s Role in the New Reality

How can the continent strengthen its representation and negotiation capacity on global platforms such as COP 17 and the G20? How can regional integration and the deepening of South-South relations become an engine of growth and development?

2. Fostering Africa’s New Champions of Growth

What are the drivers of Africa’s competitiveness in a post-crisis global economy? How can Africa’s emerging economies build capacity in science, technology and innovation to move up the value chain?

3. Building Partnerships for Inclusive Development

How can government and business work together to distribute more equitably the benefits from Africa’s wealth in natural resources? How can social and economic costs resulting from failing states, cross-border violence, organized crime and illicit trade be mitigated?
